March 8, 2008 ARIS TT Bank – Maroussi: 72-59 Massey, Washington and Tsaldaris score double digits
ARIS TT Bank added yet another victory to their collection after their victory against Maroussi today with a final score of 72-59 at the Alexandrio stadium, and is securely holding on to third place in the scoreboard.
The game did not begin well for the “yellows” and our opponents were able to pass ahead at 4-8 in the first four minutes. ARIS TT Bank answered back however with a three pointer by Massey and another one by Kalaitzis, and in the 6’ they were able to pass ahead at 10-8. our opponents managed to pass ahead in the 7’ at 10-12, but the “yellows” answered back directly and changed the score to 15-12 in the 8’, and shortly after rounded up the first period at 15-14.
Both teams seemed to have problems with their offense, and this resulted in the score being at balance in the 14’ at 20-20. A breakthrough from Agadakos led the “yellows” in advancing and taking a five point difference in the 16’ at 27-22 and shortly after to eight points in the 17’ (30-22) after a three pointer by Mottola. Our opponents were able to answer back and changed the score to 30-28, which was also the score of the first half.
After the half time, the opponents surprised ARIS TT Bank with an 11-2 streak, and took the lead at 32-39 in the 23’. Gordon Herbert’s players however did not give up, and with their own 6-0 streak they changed the score to 38-39 in the 25’. The “yellows” had gotten back in to the game and it was quite difficult for their opponents to do much to stop them. Massey and Washington stole the show, and ARIS TT Bank dominated the three last minutes of the third period, and once again took the lead in the score and rounded up the third period at 51-45.
Out opponents did not give up, and in the 32’ they were able to bring the game to a tie at 52-52. At that moment, the “yellows” found their rhythm once again and with a 9-0 streak they passed ahead at 61-52 in the 35’. From that moment on it seemed as thought the game had been called for, since the difference for the “yellows” was only increasing. A three pointer by Kalaitzis in the 38’ sent the score to 67-55, and shortly after the game ended at 72-59.
Besides Massey, Washington and Tsaldaris who stood out on an offensive level scoring double digit numbers, the other players that greatly contributed to the game were Reyshawn Terry, and also Vladimir Boisa. The rest of the players did an excellent job in defense, they helped out in the rebounds, and proved that scoring is not the only thing that sets aside a player, but that there are many other fields that can make a difference in the game.
The Periods: 15-14, 30-28, 51-43, 72-59.
ARIS TT Bank (Herbert): Pandeliadis 2, Terry 3, Tsaldaris 11 (1), Washington 12, Wright 7 (1), Kalaitzis 7 (2), Iliadis, Boisa, Mottola 7 (2), Massey 18 (1), Agadakos 5 (1).
